Mother’s Day Revisited

Mother’s Day this year seemed extra special since we had a brand new little one in the home.  Nothing can quite compare to the sweet feeling you get when you hold and snuggle a precious and innocent newborn.

I love being able to cuddle with Ari and I love just watching him.  Newborns are definitely fascinating with all the little involuntary gestures they make, the cute scrunched up faces they create and of course all the cooing and other sounds they generate.  I can never get enough of them.  I want to just treasure all this time with Ari since I most likely will never get to experience the newborn phase again with my own child.

I also loved Mother’s Day more this year because having a newborn in the home truly reminded all of us in our family of six what this day is about.  Motherhood truly is a sacred and noble calling in life.  That is such a simple and yet profound truth and doctrine.

And of course, Mother’s Day is always more special when you get to enjoy the hand crafted creations of your little ones.

Eli, with the help of his nursery leaders, made a flower for me out of his hand print.  So darling!

In Cory’s kindergarten class at school, he made me a necklace and wrote me this poem.

I adore how Cory calls me a “late bird” just because I don’t like getting out of bed at 6 or 7 in the morning :) !

And Keri, all on her own, made me some cards and created these never-need-to-be-watered flowers for me!

I am so grateful that Heavenly Father has allowed me to raise some of His precious children.  I am in awe of the trust He has put in me.

  6. You’re such a cute mom! Having a newborn is such a special time! It comes with it’s challenges, for sure, but there really isn’t anything sweeter. Hope you’re hanging in there and getting the hang of having one more little munchkin thrown into the mix ( i know you are probably rocking it).

    He is so very cute!
