Wow! This last week was quite the adventure with many firsts in our house … some definitely better than others.
I have been a mother now for nearly 10 years, yet last week was the first time ever that one of my kids came down with an ear infection … and a double one at that … along with a double eye infection!? Little Eli definitely wasn’t feeling himself. For 7 nights in a row he was up EVERY hour. And here I thought I was supposed to be resting before our new little one joins our family at the end of the month
.
Another first? At my ultrasound last week, this little guy in utero decided he wanted to flip around to the breech position. That was definitely not something on my agenda. Gratefully at my appointment yesterday, we found out that he is back to head down. I breathed a BIG sigh of relief and now I just hope and pray he stays that way. He is another big kid, though. They estimate his weight to already be 8 1/2 pounds and I still have a little over 2 weeks to go!? He is still measuring above the 95th percentile.
A 3D shot of our little guy at 30 weeks.
Our newish computer last week also experienced a first, and it was also a first for any computer we have ever owned. It somehow got infected with a virus (and we didn’t even click on anything?!) and it stopped functioning properly. It ended up even ruining our recovery discs and we had to wipe our hard drive completely clean to get rid of it. Thankfully my extremely kind older brother took 3 days out of his life to help us get everything back up and running again. Thank You Michael!!!
Lesson learned – I am incredibly grateful that every night our computer backs up to a remote location so we didn’t lose any files … mainly I was concerned with the 10 years worth of pictures we have on our hard drive! That would have been devastating. [And if you happened to be interested in what we use for backup, we use the company IDrive. For $50 a year it helps us have the peace of mind we need ... and no, no one is paying me to promote this company
. We are just very pleased clients.]
Yet another recent first at our house was the older kids, Keri and Cory, started riding the school bus to school. I normally take them to school and pick them up, but once this new little one gets here, I am not so sure how I am going to be feeling. So we decided we needed to do some practice bus runs. Both kids were OVERLY reluctant to try the bus, but thankfully they both have enjoyed the experience so far. Their bus hardly has any other kids on it and their driver is one of the kindest ladies I have ever met!
The final recent first in our house? Keri was in her first play ever this past weekend – “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” She made an adorable oompa loompa. It was a blast to see my shy little girl up on stage dancing and singing and thoroughly enjoying herself! We were very proud of her and all the kids at her elementary school for the amazing production they performed!

I agree! adorable oompa loompa!
And bus riding? My kids are so jealous!
And ear/eye infections? ugh. so sorry. some things are so ironically unfair. Hope you can catch up on your sleep… just in time to lose it again…

Love you!
Some of the firsts don’t sound fun! Good thing you had back-up on your computer through that company. I’ve heard of companies like that so it’s good to know of a good one! I would die if I lost my pictures.
My son loves riding the bus and my daughter is jealous she doesn’t ride the bus! haha. You can’t win!
Good luck with the impending arrival of your new baby and hopefully it stays in the right position! No more turning!
