This sums up my life right now – perhaps minus the smile on this lady’s face
!!
The packing is done. The move is complete (A HUGE thank you to the 21 people who loaded our truck and the 15 people who helped unload it. Yeah, I know. I was impressed. Each end only took about 30 minutes. And of course, another BIG thanks to my friend who kept my kids all day and my sister who flew in to help with the chaos!)
Now it is time to unpack.
I am quickly realizing that it is much easier to pack and put things in boxes than it is to unpack and find new places for everything to go. It is even harder to unpack when one’s kidlets won’t stop getting into anything and everything.
This morning I had to put Eli in his crib just so I could brush my teeth in peace. He thinks he must climb on top of everything and that he must explore every nook and cranny.
For example, today he decided it would be fun to flip over his ball bucket, put it in the kitchen, climb on the counter, grab the tomatoes, bring them to the couch and then smash them all over himself and the sofa. Lovely times I say. I stripped him down and put him in his crib while I cleaned up the mess. When I went to fetch him, he had taken off his diaper and was playing naked in his crib. Egads?!
However, I must admit I am LOVING all our space. I love our soft, plush, new carpet. I love having 3 bedrooms. I love having a playroom/den. And I love having a garage. Some of my favorite words to utter lately? “Put it in the garage.”
Now I just need to get some more rest (going to bed past 2 am and then getting up with the kids doesn’t quite cut it) and get all the way settled in. I am giving myself a good 4-6 weeks to get to this point.

Great post! Glad you’re getting settled, even though little cutie is doing such Ryanesque things…
There is nothing as exciting as a new house (except a new baby). Good look getting settled!
Actually, good LUCK, getting settled.
I feel for you! But yay for a new place!!!
This is so exciting. There will be pictures soon I hope?
Don’t overwork yourself- we’re still unpacking and finding a place for things…. five months later. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it done, but it’s a big job and I guess I just have to be patient. I am so glad you like your new place. Are you still in the same ward?
Eli! My goodness!
So glad for all that space for you. What a relief that must be!
So excited for you!
I hate moving!!We had a move about 3 months ago which took us only 20 minutes down the road but took us all day doing the move with a box trailer. About 7 loads, 14 trips and a little bit of swearing from my always calm hubby! The next day we had to move the 2 fish tanks and about 40 fish, it took all day and a little bit more cussing from the boss(so he thinks). We are now settled, less 20 fish and a tank, we decided to sell one so that next time we move it’s not so hectic. I’m glad the inlaws had the kids for the move, my 15 month old girl loves to unpack stuff!!
A new house is fun! Busy, but fun. Try to sleep a little, and enjoy it.
I’m glad you are all moved to your new spacious place. Finally!!! You deserve the extra space and you’ll love having a garage. I agree, I don’t like moving, but it does make you get organized and purge out the old stuff.
pictures???????
You’ve been busy. Travel, a move, kids! Hope you get settled in pretty quickly!
yay! i just checked in again after being awol for a while and i’m so happy for you! may you find many more favorites in your new space.
Yay for moving and more space!
Not so yay for tomatoes on the couch.
And beware of those lovely words, “Put it in the garage”. See my last three posts if you want a reason. . . (Actually it’s not the most recent but the two before that but I wanted an easy way to say it.) (Huh. I ended up saying it the hard way after all.)
I’m a dork!
Congratulations!
But watch the “just put it in the garage” thing. Before you know it the contents of the garage will topple onto your head as you walk through it, carrying a load of laundry on the way to the basement.
And…um…no. I definitely don’t speak from experience. *shakes head* No sirree.
Congratulations! Aren’t garages the best? What an impressively fast move too, though I’m sure it was because you were super organized as always
egads! Lol, that’s great.
I am so happy for you. And now you can have people over for dinners and all the other things you never felt you could do because of your small living space. And I hear you on the garage. LOVE mine. =)
I talked to Jamie yesterday and it made me think of my Seattle crew. I miss you guys!
We moved when months before my little one was born. He is close to turning 5 now. Our garage is still filled with unopened boxes from the move.
Hmp.

Really? You prefer packing to unpacking? I hate hate hate packing. I’d rather unpack, especially if I’m moving to a bigger space! We just did that less than two months ago. Opening the boxes (many of which had languished in our storage unit for longer than I care to admit) was like Christmas. “Oh I forgot I had one of these. Hooray!”
Your little guy sounds mischievous like mine! At least we never get bored
I’m glad you got settled comfortably; moving can be so hard.
congratulations on your chaos…take your time, you worked hard to get to this point…good luck!
Oh, the hassles of moving! Glad to know you got through it in one piece.
Which is worse? Packing or unpacking? I struggle with unpacking, because of all the effort I put into securing the boxes, and not really knowing where all the stuff would eventually go.
