Last year it was cherry blossom trees. This year it is bright golden daffodils that make me catch my breath every time I spot one.

For me these flowers personify happiness. I see them and they make my heart feel light. They are refreshing. They are cheerful. They are my happy medicine.
When I gaze at them they pull me in and they capture my full attention. For the few seconds they have power over me, I am able to forget everything else as I revel in their beauty, in the hope they exude. They make my mind wander and wonder about all the many and glorious things I can accomplish in my life. They truly bring a smile to my face and they make me feel as if I can conquer anything.
This is what Spring is all about.
And if this was your garden I was in while getting lost in the moment, my four year old son would confidently strut up to you and gently edge into your personal space and proudly exclaim, “My mommy loves daffodils. She loves yellow.”
He would act kind of like he did yesterday with the lady we saw in the elevator who had on a yellow sweater. “My mommy wuvs [loves] your sweater. She wuvs [loves] yellow.”
And then he pointed at her pants, “And I love navy blue. I love your pants.”
And then he pointed at a pink rag she was holding and said, “And Keri likes your rag. She loves pink. We love all those things.”
Yes we do.
I do love yellow.
It probably doesn’t surprise you that it is my favorite color. It brings me sunshine and happiness … and daffodils.

This brought a smile to my face. What a sweet boy you have. We found daffodils up at the tulip festival called cheerfulness. You should get some.

Daffodils were my mom’s favorite flower. They are one of my most favorite ones too. I love the whole rainbow for my favorite color.

Daffodils seem to burst open with hope and promise while the rest of the landscape seems to be working to overcome its dormancy. Springtime is that way in general, I think. Your Cory is a man after my heart.

I like them too–and we don’t have any in our yard at all. As I was driving through the neighborhood looking around, they are everywhere, and I think I may need to get some bulbs planted this fall!

Love yellow and spring and all that good stuff. Wish I was there to see all the Northwestern flowers. I miss that crazy color time!

My feelings exactly! Our flowers up north come a little later and don’t stay quite so long, but I am eagerly awaiting the daffodils!

Beautiful shots! It’s funny because I used to LOVE yellow as a wee lassie–my entire room and canopy bed were yellow. But it’s only recently I’ve resurrected my love affair with it!
