‘Tis The Season …

rudolph_clipartTo be sick … Fa la la la la, la la la la.

I have a lovely sinus infection and my poor nose is getting so red from blowing it that Rudolph better watch out or he might be out of a job soon.

Eli is congested, too, which makes nursing a difficult task for him to accomplish.

But the worst part about being sick right now is the horrid timing.  We are boarding a plane in less than 48 hours.  I am definitely not looking forward  to having even more pressure in my head!?!  Yikes!

At least I am grateful the two older kids are mostly over their croup infection.

But despite being sick, it has also been ’tis the season to be festive:

We have gone to holiday parties.

We decorated a gingerbread house.

We made gingerbread cookies.

We have been using our advent calendars.

This one counts down to our Christmas.

This one counts down to when we leave for Grandma’s house.

We cuddled under our Christmas quilt.

We had our first snow.

I couldn’t believe this picture I took in the dead of night turned out mostly clear.

And we even arranged for Santa to come to our house early so we didn’t have to haul presents on an airplane. Now that truly makes him a jolly old man!

While we are in sunny Southern California for the next couple of weeks, I will be popping in and out of blog world. In the meantime, I hope everyone is having an enjoyable and festive holiday season!

  1. Santa is definitely a jolly old man to make sure Keri and Cory had their Christmas early. Too bad he couldn’t cure your infection but I guess we can’t expect too much from the dear old man. :D

  2. Aren’t you just a lucky duck to get out of this alleged “deep freeze”! Have a blast in California and good luck traveling!

  3. If you haven’t tried antibiotics yet, you can try what I always do when I think I’ve used too many pills. Maybe you’ve done it before. I dilute about an 1/8th of a teaspoon of salt in warmer than lukewarm water and suck it through my nostrils. Sorry, it’s a little gross, but it usually seems to help. I wish you luck. Oh and drink lots of orange juice. Have fun!

  4. you poor thing. i’ve had a cold that has turned into this terrible, hack-up-a-lung cough that sounds like i have the plague. not pretty, nor does it make for a good night’s sleep. why does the holiday season come at the same time as flu season?:)

have fun in southern cal. we are headed down there on the day after christmas to spend a few days at my mom’s before the party moves back up here for new year’s.

  5. Me

Looking forward to your visit! Hope you feel better fast!! Keri’s hair is sooo long shiny, and Cory looks so handsome! Hugs.

  6. Have a great trip. I hope you feel better.

Uggghh, I know what you mean about being sick. We are in a healthy stage right now, but last few weeks have been cough, cold, strep throat, bronchitis and ear infections. Not fun! I hope this good health spell lasts for a bit longer. We shall see. I hope you feel better soon. Have fun in Cali! Enjoy the sun and that’s fun you had Santa early. Very smart of him. :)

  8. Sorry you’re not feeling well. Isn’t it funny that Mom’s still have to ‘function’ when we are sick??!! Oh, well the kids are worth every minute of our time! As far as your nose, try regular ‘chapstick’ brand chapstick, not the scented kind. It works wonders. Chpstick and A&D ointment are my best friends!!! Take care, hope you start feeling better!

  9. Hope you feel better soon! Enjoy your trip and Merry Christmas! :)

  10. Well, isn’t Santa accommodating! :-) Have a great holiday, it’s always fun to share it with family you don’t get to see very often. Happy traveling–I’m not against a little extra decongestant to ensure a wonderful mid-flight nap :-)

  11. Have fun! Merry Christmas!

  12. Holly

Have a very Merry Christmas! And hopefully the California sun will kick your cold out of your system.

Sorry to hear you have been under the weather. There are some really rotten bugs out this year. Thanks for sharing your Christmas decorations, I love seeing how people adorn their homes!

  17. Sorry you are sick. I hope you get better soon.

I wish you were coming my way. . .

    Merry Christmas

Oh, and where did you get that very cute advent calendar with the manger scene on it?

  18. Sickness is bad. Very, very bad. Don’t do it.

We’ve been fighting the stomach bug this last week.

    Ugh.

By the way, I love your advent thing! I say ‘thing’ because I’m not sure what it’s made of. Are those wooden drawers? I’d love to find one like that!

  19. Here’s to a miracle recovery before you fly out. We just enduring 10 hours of airtravel and it was tough even under healthy circumstances!

  20. Ok, I’m slow. But I hope the flight WENT well, and that you are feeling much better by now.

    Merry Christmas!
