Mess Free Pumpkin Activity

If you are ever in the mood to do an enjoyable pumpkin activity with the kids, but you aren’t in the mood to be cleaning up slimy messes (i.e. pumpkin guts and seeds), then this activity is just for you. Instead of carving a jack-o-lantern, create one with soft gummy candy and pins.

Shoestring licorice or gummy worms can be used for the hair. Junior mints can be used for eyes. Tootsie rolls make excellent eyebrows. Gumdrops, marshmallows, gummy bears, gummy lifesavers, fruit by the foot, jelly beans … the creative possibilities are endless.

This is also an excellent idea for a Halloween party, a school activity or any other large gathering involving kids!

Enjoy!

  2. All of the sudden, Millie said everything was alright.

What a great idea! And, so much safer than trying to carve the pumpkin.

  4. I love this idea, especially for my little one. I’m planning a Halloween party this year, and was just going to let the young kids draw on pumpkins, but this is a much more creative idea.

  5. Oh I love this idea! Call me a Halloween scrooge, but I hate to carve pumpkins…getting all the goo out drives me nuts…and then we usually have some kind of flesh wound occur..really, your idea is much better! lol!

That is a great idea! Carving pumpkins was a nightmare last year. We painted our faces on this year. Next year, I think the kids will vote for candy faces for sure! I’ve dropped off the planet for the last few months, but I’ve enjoyed catching up on your blog… so interesting! By the way, is that a picture of your girl on the top right of your blog, or of you when you were a little girl? I love it!

  28. This is an awesome idea! I love it! Thanks for sharing :)

  31. SOOOOO cute and adorable – and easy for the kids to do :) Though I’m pretty sure all the candy would be eaten in this house! I included this in a roundup of pumpkin activities for kids today – thanks for the brilliant inspiration!
