Do you find your hands getting extra dry because you wash them fifty three times a day? Are you one of those people who likes to apply lotion after every hand wash so your hands feel adequately moisturized? Then Gloves In A Bottle might be a product you are interested in.
“Gloves In A Bottle is a shielding lotion that rapidly absorbs into, and bonds with, the outer layer of skin creating a protective layer while retaining the natural moisture from within. This makes it the perfect dry skin care product. It does not wash off, but comes off naturally with exfoliated skin cells. Just reapply every four hours for continued protection.”
Not too long ago I was sent a sample bottle of this shielding lotion. I used it for an extended period of time to see how I liked it. It did a remarkably good job of keeping my hands from becoming overly dry and cracked even when I washed them a ton. I loved how the protection didn’t wash off every time my hands came near water. It also kept the exzema patch on my finger from flaring up.
However, I did find I really had to apply this lotion every four hours like the instructions indicated and I also found that I occasionally still needed to use a normal lotion on top of this. While Gloves In A Bottle does indeed form a nice barrier to keep irritants out of your skin, I found it didn’t moisturize quite as much as I thought it would.
Gloves In A Bottle is greaseless, non-sticky, fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, completely safe and non-toxic. It costs $12.95 for an 8 ounce bottle and a little bit goes a long way. If you are a frequent hand washer, i.e. you are a busy mom with active toddlers or you work in the health care profession, then you might want to look into this particular product.

I’ve found that I prefer to use latex gloves when doing all my cleaning and dishwashing. That way I get to use the moisturizing lotion I enjoy as well as use it less frequently.
But thanks for posting about this, it sounds interesting. I will definitely check it out.

I have this problem, my hands are dry all the time even though I moisturize.
Thanks for the review

Interesting. I’ve never heard of this. My hands get dry in the winter (but not terribly so). I hate putting on lotion and then having to reapply it all the time. Maybe I’ll check this product out.
Thanks for passing along a tip.

I use Gloves in a Bottle all the time – I’m an artist and end up washing my hands a zillion times a day (slight exaggeration). Gloves in a Bottle makes it easier to keep my hands clean plus seems to save them from drying up and cracking despite the paint, oil and thinners I get all over them. Great stuff – I get it from the UK Gloves in a Bottle website – excellent service too.

Try this product which seems to be getting some good press – Skin MD Natural in the UK. It uses a new advanced scientific proprietary formulation which, apparently, has a moisturizing factor 6 times greater than glycerin, the standard humectant (water absorber) against which all others are measured. It is a shielding lotion which bonds to the skin to keep the irritants out, moisture in and protects the skin in a way a normal moisturizer can’t. Well worth a look.
