Berry Smoothies

berry-smoothie.jpgOne thing we loved making this summer were Berry Smoothies. There is nothing quite as refreshing as a creamy, sweet drink on a warm summer day. Some of our favorite blends were Strawberry Banana and Raspberry Blueberry.

Berry Smoothies

1 – 2 cups fresh berries (You can also use frozen berries.)

1 1/2 cups vanilla yogurt

1/2 cup apple juice

2 tablespoons sugar or honey

2 teaspoons vanilla

1-2 bananas, optional

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If you desire, top with whipped cream.

  2. I went through a phase where I was hooked on smoothies myself, and ate them two or three times a day. Then I discovered the side effects :) It nearly killed me until I eased up.

  3. Mmmmm, those look just as good as an ice cream milkshake.

  4. How rude. Don’t you know it’s Sunday and I can’t run out to buy all the ingredients for this? The only thing I have on hand is plain old sugar, and that just isn’t gonna hit the spot.

  5. How divine! Northwest berries can’t be beat. Wish we were at your place for a smoothy delight.

  7. Those sound very refreshing. We’ve been enjoying peach smoothies this summer from the peaches I froze off our tree. I’ll enjoy them long into the fall and winter.

  10. I love smoothies. I hvae never used apple juice, I’ll give it try next time.

  11. We’ve been having a lot of smoothies lately. We have a lot of fresh peaches. Even better are the peaches that I cut up and freeze, then it makes the smoothie really cold and ice cream like.

Maybe I’ll go and make myself one right now.

  12. Mmmmm, we missed our raspberry harvest here this year as we were on vacation! The wild birds and squirrels got them all.

I think I’m going to have to add this stuff to my grocery list tomorrow.
