Since Father’s Day is on Sunday, I thought I would list some ways why I think my husband is a remarkable father to our two mostly cheerful and nearly always energetic children.
1. He enjoys singing songs to them. He even makes up some of his own.
2. He loves to read to them.
3. He likes taking them outside to go to the park, to go on nature walks,
to go to the zoo and to go bike riding.
4. He excitedly sits and watches The Upside Down Show and The Backyardigans with them.
5. He praises them and is proud of their accomplishments, even their littlest ones.
6. He willingly changes diapers.
7. He knows and understands their routine. It is nice to know if an emergency ever arises with me he can take care of the kids just fine.
8. He says he is sorry to them and ask for their forgiveness when he has done something wrong.
9. He loves them unconditionally.
10. He acts silly with them. Sometimes I think he has as much restless energy as they do.
11. He kindly and cheerfully gets them up in the morning so mommy can sleep in for a few extra minutes.
12. He laughs with them and tells them often he loves them.
13. He teaches them by example how to be more Christlike.

Aww, how sweet! You are very lucky for #13 as sadly not enough dads these days do. My DH is pretty good about this though some days he’s more successful than others!
Thanks for sharing!

Seriously? Neil and Rudy are kindred spirits in the biggest way. Wow.
And when we got the newest Backyardigans DVD? Neil couldn’t wait to watch it, and put it on in the evening while the girls were sleeping. Too cute!
Congrats on being one of the lucky ones. Their aren’t many guys as amazing as ours. =)

I’m so excited to find another adult that likes the Backyardigans.
If you like musicals AND you like cartoons, well, this is the show to watch. I love all the singing and choreography. Yes, you heard it, every episode comes complete with song and dance.
Watch out Julie Andrews…

He sounds a lot like the Tour Manager, who is often jokingly called “the wife” around here!
I think it’s great to have our men so involved; historically, men have been absent in our sons’ lives and I think they really need those role models.
Have a great Father’s Day over there, and happy TT!

What a sweet list. My husband also shares most of these qualities. Except for #6. It seriously makes him puke to change a messy diaper. He can muck out the sloshiest corrals all day, even stopping to eat lunch while he’s in the middle of it and it doesn’t bug him a bit. But when it’s time to change a diaper. . .well, it’s just easier for me to clean up one mess instead of two.

A good man is hard to find, but still around. It’s great to read about a strong leader who’s willing to do the humble tasks. That’s Christ-likeness in action; after all He came to serve, not to be served.
You chose not only your husband, but also the father of your children, very well.
