Feel The Love

valentine-heart.gifLaura The Organizing Junkie recently tagged me for the “Seven Things I Love About Me” meme. She said, “It’s not often enough I think about the things I like about myself and I’m betting that is the same for most women. What a great exercise and probably something we should do more often.”

I wholeheartedly agree with her. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. What happened to following the commandment to be of good cheer? I think that includes being kind to ourselves.

1. I love the fact that I love to eat vegetables. Every day I eat a cucumber and tomato salad with seasoned rice vinegar and that is just the start of my veggie consumption. Of course, this also balances out my love for chocolate.

2. I love the fact that I am addicted to reading and that I have a passion for lifelong learning. History, economics, piano lessons, photography, creative writing … my interests are incredibly varied.

3. I love the fact that I enjoy exercising. Five days a week I bless my body with some form of aerobic activity.

4. I love the fact that I have a good memory. It is pretty easy for me to remember birthdays, anniversaries, and other odd tidbits. However, I do think I have lost some brain cells from being pregnant and raising kids.

5. I love the fact that I am resourceful, pragmatic and down-to-earth.

6. I love the fact that I am taller than the average American woman, 5′10″. When I used to play volleyball in high school, I even wished I was a few inches taller. However, then I couldn’t have married my husband who is the same height as me. After all, when we first started dating I couldn’t understand why I was interested in someone who wasn’t towering over me.

7. I love the fact that I have a deep and abiding faith in my Savior and Heavenly Father. I love how hope fills my heart from daily accepting the Atonement in my life.

Since I think every woman should participate in this introspective activity, I tag all of you! Let me know if you take the challenge.

  • What a coincidence, I love all those things about you too!!! Although, sometimes I secretly hope you will forget my birthday, just because I will never remember yours (but please don’t forget it).

  • What a beautiful meme (about a beautiful gal). Missknowitall stole my comment! =P

  • hi extraordinary: i love this post! you are my new best friend! he he :) you value so much of what i value. i was just reading about the “good cheer” scripture tonight and i am so grateful, i never want to take this for granted, what we have by picking our God and our church. thank you for writing a beautiful post today. you made me feel good reading your words. i, too, am a lifelong learner who loves to read. but i am not tall (i am barely 5′5″). take care girl, kathleen :)

  • You know what? What a darling post! Inspiring actually. How many times does one really stop and think about what they love about themselves?? BRAVO!!! **applauding**

  • Hi, it’s Snoskred here. I’ve recently become a blogging chick and have set myself a challenge to comment on as many Blogging Chick blogs as I can. So that’s why I’m here. ;)

I just did a meme this week or else I’d do this one, you’re right about us not looking at things we love about ourselves. I’m a big veggie fan too, not so much a fan of chocolate. ;) Oh, I’ll eat it if I have to hehe ;)

  • Nice meme, I particularly appreciated number two.

  • What a nice switch to focus on the POSITIVE. You are one blessed lady!

  • Wow. Well, now I love these things about you, too! You are a fabulous woman!

  • I loved this post! What a great idea–to focus on the positive. We don’t think about the good in us often enough!

  • Those are all great things about you. I’ll have to think about seven things I love about myself. I’ll let you know if I post on it.

  • Inspiring post! It is hard to state out loud what we love about ourselves without bragging. Love your list.

  • You are one healthy woman. I’m impressed. I love that you love hot chocolate as much as I do. I love that you’re ALMOST close enough to be neighbors, that you’re tall and a great blogger. What more could I want in a blogging buddy?

  • Those are some good reasons to feel good about yourself. This was a bit like our Woman to Woman topic last month. It’s really hard to find appreciation for ourselves, and it’s good to recognize the positives.

  • A very inspiring post. It took me quite a while to come up with 7 things I like about me – made me realise I’ve got to be kinder to myself!

  • Fantastic, well done! I sure wish I loved exercise :)

    Thanks for playing along!

  • I love all those things about you. And me too because we have so much in common! Except the memory part and maybe the veggie part. I love vegetables but I’m too lazy to prepare them as often as I should.

How close are you to the coast because I am buying the house next door. Let me know when your neighbors move. Then I can just come over for my veggies every day.

  • I like number two. As a musician, I’m glad music and piano lessons are a part of what you like about yourself.

    Keep smiling.
