Huffy and Puffy … Not A “Smart” Way To Go

keri-smelling-flowers.jpgThis last week with Keri has been a bit more challenging than usual. Consequently I have sat and pondered why this is the case. I think part of the problem is she is having a difficult time adjusting to the fact that in a couple of short weeks school will be out for the summer. She has a hard time saying goodbye to routines and friends, even though she knows this seasonal break won’t last forever and even though she knows we will be scheduling playdates.

I have been much more gruff and short with Keri this week because she has been acting up. However, this isn’t what she needs. Instead, she needs me to be more patient and aware of her tender feelings. After all she is only 5 and she probably doesn’t even understand that she is reacting to this situation. Now that I think about it, she kind of did this same thing last year when she graduated from preschool. She easily gets attached to things.

With this in mind, I am not necessarily going to add a “new” habit this week, but I am going to add a baby step to my habit of Continue reading
