Welcome and Come On In …

If you haven’t heard about The Ultimate Blog Party (March 2nd - March 9th) being hosted by Janice and Susan of 5 Minutes for Mom then I think you have been too busy cleaning your house :) . After all, “this will be the place to be.” You will get the chance to “win prizes, hang out with your friends and meet some new ones.” Now what part of that does not sound enticing? If you still aren’t interested, maybe the idea of cashing in on one of over 100 prizes will get you jazzed up. The free drawings include gift cards, blog designs, knitted clothing, baby gear, yarn, jewelry and more.

Now without further ado, let’s move on to the mingling. Welcome to my humble abode, “An Ordinary Mom.” I have only been blogging for about 4 months, but I have quickly become obsessed with the blogosphere. I have to be incredibly careful to abide by the 11th commandment in our house:

“Thou shalt attend to the needs of thy family and to the needs of thy household before satisfying thy blogging addiction.”

If you peruse my archives you will find that my blog has a little bit of everything - tips, recipes, the ups and downs of motherhood, humor, uplifting quotes and stories, things I am wanting to improve in my life and more. Here is a sampling of what makes me me:

  1. To find out where I come from and how many siblings I have, read my “I Am” poem which I wrote in honor of my 100th post.
  2. I am one of those people who desperately needs their sleep. If I don’t get it, then this is what happens to me.
  3. Nearly 13 years ago I met the man I would eventually marry. I didn’t know I was in love with him until we were separated for two years, but that is a story for another day. However, in “Spouse Praising … Not Bashing” and in “My G-Rated Hot Buttons” you will catch a little glimpse of how much I adore him. And if you want to see what a little terror he was when he was two then read this.
  4. Since Cory doesn’t want to be outdone by his Dad, you can read about his antics in “31 Minutes in the Life of My Son.”
  5. Toddlerhood can be a trying time for anyone, but it is possible to find out everything you need to know about this phase in life.
  6. My 5 year old daughter is a sweet and wise little girl and in “Out of the Mouths of Babes” you will see why.
  7. I love my two kids dearly, although at times they can drive me bonkers, but it wasn’t easy getting them here. Struggling with infertility and miscarriages has helped shape who I am today and you can read about it here.
  8. I love to read, but I must admit I haven’t done as much reading lately since I discovered blogging. However, “On Hold At the Library” will show you some of my reading interests.
  9. I also have a passion for learning and eventually these are some of the subjects I would like to pursue.
  10. My husband is currently working towards his doctorate degree in Bioengineering so money is a bit tight. However, we have learned to get a lot of use out of vintage things.
  11. I am a work in progress and I am constantly striving to be a better person. Here you can see how I am trying to make myself a little better each day. Participating in the SMART Habit Saturday fun has also helped me accomplish my goals..
  12. Getting to know other bloggers and reading about their lives has added a whole new dimension to my own life. Check this out if you are looking for some new remarkable and amazing people to add a little sunshine to your life.
  13. God has always played a prominent role in my life and I am eternally grateful for the relationship I have with him. He truly is the anchor in my life.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit and that you will drop in again sometime soon. Feel free to leave a comment so I can call on you as well.
