Menu Plan Monday – January 15, 2007

menu-plan-monday.jpg

Here’s my menu for the week:

Monday:  Kidney Bean Tacos

Tuesday:  Chicken Broccoli Casserole

Wednesday:  Leftovers

Thursday: BBQ Chicken and vegetable cous cous

Friday: Tortilla Soup and homemade rolls or Italian Bread

Saturday: Hamburgers (or as my daughter used to say, “Hangabers”) and fruit and veggies

Sunday:  Leftovers/Free For All  (A few years ago I decided not to cook on Sundays unless it was a special occasion.  It was just too much to do after being at Church for three hours, especially when I used to have meetings and other responsibilities I needed to take care of.  Besides which, Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest :) .)

I am slowly going to start posting recipes on my blog.  Please let me know if there is one that you are interested in and I will get those ones up and running first.  I already posted the Sweet and Sour Chicken recipe and the Meatloaf recipe from last week.

Have a fabulous week!  And for those of you who are enduring the horrid ice storm, I hope it melts soon.

  1. Another yummy week! I have copied your sweet/sour chick and meatloaf and will be making these soon!

    Have a great Monday!

  2. Everything sounds great! I would love for you to share your chicken broccoli casserole recipe – always love things made with broccoli. It’s my favorite veggie!

  3. Tortilla soup sounds perfect on a freezing day like today!

  4. Sounds delicious–I’m intrigued by “kidney bean tacos.” Would you share that one?

  5. Well, your menu looks delish!!! I already copied down the Sweet & Sour chicken, but would love your recipe for Tortilla soup…sounds so yummy! Hope you have a great week!

My husband loves chicken brocoli casserole…

  7. Happy Menu Planning Day. I appreciate seeing healthy choices on menus. The soup sounds like something my family would enjoy.

  8. Great menu you have planned for this week, and YUMMY on the Sweet and Sour Chicken :)

  10. I love doing leftovers! And free-for-alls. We have those a lot too. Good for you for planning! I love knowing what I’m going to make each week..it helps!

  11. I don’t like to cook Sundays either and you know what my kids love it because they like being able to pick whatever they want :) Have a great week! Laura

  12. We too have used the term though slightly different “hangaburgers”. It was nice to pull the memory up from reading your post.
    Very nice menu!

  13. I too would like the broccoli and chicken casserole! I am a broccoli lover!

Thanks for the shout out about the ice! It looks like Missouri got it the worst! I think we were lucky here in the Detroit area — we missed a lot of it!

  14. This may sound stupid but what is cous cous? The menu sounds wonderful for the week – I’m printing out the meatloaf recipe! Thanks!

When my nephew was 2 (now 24) he would say ‘beeferburger! Thanks for reminding me of that.

    Have a good one.

  16. Thanks for visiting my site!

OAMC…is Once-A-Month-Cooking. I am in a OAMC Food-Coop…we each make 2 meals 6 times (we take one recipe and divide it by two) The families in my group go home with 36 meals in their freezer for the next month. We each have a budget of $125.00 for our 2 meals. Really helps with my family’s food budget and our busy schedule.

I’m thinking about posting our favorite, tried and tested OAMC recipes on my blog. Check back!

I’d like the tortilla soup recipe, too!

  18. Angie – Cous Cous is basically a really tiny pasta. It is delicious and very fast to cook. If you have Trader Joe’s in your area they stock it for a great price.

Sometime in the next week or so I will definitely be posting the recipes for Tortilla Soup, Chicken Broccoli Casserole and the intriguing Kidney Bean Tacos.

Have a great week. Stay warm!
