I am a HUGE fan of Christmas music. I absolutely love to listen to it! I used to start listening to it at the the end of September, but I have calmed down a bit and I normally won’t turn it on until after Thanksgiving …. sometimes you might find me cheating, though, and I will turn it on earlier! My taste in Christmas music is all over the place and if you look at my CD’s, that would be quite apparent. I have the Jon Schmidt Piano Christmas CD, a Linda Eder Christmas CD, quite a few CD’s from Amy Grant, Celine Dion, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and of course the Messiah. Every year, though, I like to add a new CD to my collection. This year I found the new Sarah McLachlan “Wintersong” CD at Costco for a good deal and I am thoroughly enjoying it. “River” and “Song for a Winter’s Night” are absolutely beautiful! I also really like the obscure Christmas song “In the Bleak Mid-Winter” and this album actually has it on it.

So what are some of your favorite Christmas albums? What are some of your favorite Christmas songs? Any stories behind them? Please share away … who knows, maybe I will find another new CD I need to add to my collection
. [ "My collection." That makes me feel like Ariel from The Little Mermaid ... LOL! Can you tell I have a 5 year old daughter, and yes, I watched that movie a hundred times when I was little, too!]

We just bought Sara’s CD too. She’s one of my husband’s very favorite musicians. We love our Loreena McKennitt Christmas albums. She has two: To Drive the Cold Winter Away and A Winter Garden. Amy Grant’s latest two are my all time favorite’s but it sounds like you have those already. What a beautiful time of year for music!

We really like Unforgotten Carols by Michael McLean and Manheimer Steamroller Christmas.
We also really likes a Christmas CD sung by his Mission President. It’s a little cheesy, but very pretty music.

The Messiah is my favorite. It amazes me each and every time I hear it. The Duke really likes the Muppet’s Christmas. We have a CD called December by George Winston that I really like too.

Julie Q. – I do have 3 of Amy Grant’s Christmas CD’s. I have “A Christmas Album,” “Home for Christmas” and “A Christmas to Remember.” I didn’t know that she came out with another new one this year called “My Best Christmas.” I looked at it online and I saw that a lot of the songs on the CD I already have. However, I am curious to hear the song “Child of God.” Do you like this one?
Minverva – I also have that Michael McLean album and I really like it.
Duchess – The Messiah is one of my favorites, too. I have good memories listening to it growing up. My mom used to blair it through the house : ) !!
Amberli – I should have known you would have followed in your mother’s footsteps : ) !! I will have to listen to this Elvis album sometime.

I love Sarah. I may have to get that CD. I have this great CD that my dad made for me (and one for all my siblings) created from a record we listened to every Christmas growing up. It’s called “The Magic of Christmas” by a group called The Souldful Strings. It’s instrumental jazz renditions of some well-known and other Christmas songs. I love it!

My favorite are the oldies! I’ve got Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, etc..all singing Christmas songs. Right now I’m listening to Judy Garland singing, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” AHHHH…I love it! Oh and I love Burl Ives, and Bing Crosby..oh ya!
